18 May We really want one of these
I haven’t been excited about drones. The idea of an Amazon delivery drone smashing into my green-house to deliver Jamie Oliver’s latest recipes doesn’t really do it for me. Neither does trying to fly one of these round some park while trying not to crash it into a dog. In fact, most drones seem to be glorified, noisy kites, with lights on (I don’t mind a kite).
However the “Lily” looks to be a useful drone that even I quite fancy. Throw it in the air and it will follow you and video you, knowing where you are and producing some amazing video footage. It’s small and very portable, but the lack of collision detection is a concern (snowboarding under the chair lifts might not be a good idea with this). List price looks to be $999 but the early bird (nicely punned) offer until June if $499.
